Perth, Australia, August 18, 2026 — A 29-year-old woman has died in a workplace incident at a towing yard in Osborne Park, a northern suburb of Perth, while unloading a vehicle from a tow truck.
Emergency services were called to Auto Tow Services near the intersection of Sundercombe Street and Collingwood Street at about 5:40 am on Tuesday. The woman, who was a tow truck driver, received emergency first aid but died at the scene. Police described the incident as a workplace death.
WorkSafe Western Australia confirmed that the woman was unloading a car from the tilt tray of a tow truck when the fatal incident occurred. The workplace safety regulator has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
WorkSafe said its investigators would examine the incident to determine whether workplace safety requirements were being followed and to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
The towing company, Auto Tow Services, described the death as a tragic loss for its team and expressed sympathy for the woman's family and loved ones.
