Bhopal, India, August 14, 2026 — Villagers in Madhya Pradesh vandalised a transformer and nearby electricity poles after a cow was electrocuted to death, allegedly due to power leakage from the transformer.
Local residents attributed the incident to negligence by the electricity department. Angered by the death of the animal, the villagers attacked the transformer and surrounding power poles with sticks and other objects. A video of the incident has been widely circulated on social media.
The vandalism disrupted power supply in the area. A large police team reached the spot after being alerted and brought the situation under control by pacifying the protesters.
The villagers ended their protest after electricity department officials assured them that the damaged transformer would be repaired immediately and that the cow’s owner would be provided adequate compensation for the loss.
