Washington, USA, August 27, 2026 — The United States has announced USD 500,000 in immediate humanitarian assistance to support relief and disaster response efforts following the devastating flash floods in Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River region.
The US Department of State expressed condolences to those who lost their lives and to families affected by the disaster, saying the assistance would help communities facing the immediate consequences of the flooding.
The funds will be provided through the US government’s global partner, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and will support emergency shelter, essential relief supplies, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services for severely affected communities.
The State Department is also deploying a disaster response adviser to the region to support coordination with local authorities and assist with immediate relief operations.
Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Kathmandu is coordinating with Nepali security agencies and local authorities to identify and assist US citizens who may be in the affected areas.
