A man has been warned by Japanese authorities after leaving his 7-year-old son alone for several hours on a hiking route on Mount Fuji while continuing his climb with another son. The boy was found alone on the mountain on Thursday and was taken into police custody, according to a police officer in Shizuoka Prefecture. The child reportedly became tired at the mountain’s sixth station, which is located more than 2,000 metres above sea level. His older brother had continued ahead, while the father told the 7-year-old to wait at the station and continued climbing with his other son.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed to respond after a Russian drone attack on a shopping center in the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih killed at least 16 people and injured around 130 others. The attack occurred on Friday in Kryvyi Rih, Zelensky’s hometown, which has repeatedly been targeted since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Emergency crews continued searching through the rubble as several people remained unaccounted for. Zelensky said the attack involved two waves of drones, with the second strike coming about 30 minutes after the first attack and targeting emergency responders who had arrived to deal with the resulting fire.

Three members of a family died after an 18-year-old boy fell into a deep stone quarry at Khavyada Dongar in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district on Friday, with his parents also falling while attempting to save him. The teenager reportedly reached the upper section of Khavyada Dongar at around 10 a.m. following a family dispute and stood near the edge of a cliff. His parents and local residents soon arrived and tried to persuade him to move away from the dangerous area.
