Dhading, August 30, 2026 — A suspension bridge over the Trishuli River at Charaundi has been swept away by a major flood, disrupting a key connection between Gorkha and Dhading districts.
The suspension bridge connected Gandaki Rural Municipality in Gorkha with Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality in Dhading. The bridge was washed away by the strong current during a major rise in the Trishuli River on Monday morning.
According to the District Police Office, Dhading, the flood broke the suspension bridge and caused significant damage to the structure.
Another suspension bridge over the Trishuli River at Dhawadi was also damaged by the flood.
Gandaki Rural Municipality Vice-Chairperson Lalita Adhikari said the intensity of the flood had reached a level where it was threatening to sweep away suspension bridges along the river.
