Kathmandu, August 30, 2026 — Two Chinese Air Force Y-20 military transport aircraft landed at Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday morning carrying 13,200 pieces of essential relief supplies for communities affected by the devastating floods along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers in Rasuwa.
A third Chinese relief aircraft has also departed from Chengdu in Sichuan province, as China begins the first phase of its disaster assistance to Nepal.
China has additionally pledged USD 2 million in financial assistance to support relief efforts following the floods, which caused extensive loss of life and damage to settlements and critical infrastructure.
Chinese specialist rescue teams are also assisting ongoing operations in Nepal. The teams are working alongside Nepali security personnel and Indian experts to locate and rescue workers trapped inside submerged tunnels of the Upper Trishuli-3 ‘A’ Hydropower Project.
The latest assistance comes as search, rescue and relief operations continue across Rasuwa and downstream districts affected by the flood disaster.
