Delaware, USA, August 14, 2026 — Selena Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey and their mental health startup Wondermind are facing a federal lawsuit from investors who allege they were misled into putting nearly $1.2 million into the company.
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in federal court in Delaware, also names Wondermind co-founder Daniella Pierson as a defendant. The investors, Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, allege that the founders made false or misleading representations about the startup’s leadership, resources, business prospects and plans when they invested in 2022.
According to the complaint, the investors were told that Gomez would play an active role in building Wondermind as its head of marketing, using her social media reach, advertising relationships and television appearances to promote the company. They also allege they were told Pierson had secured potential partnerships with major companies, including JPMorgan and Fidelity, and that revenue-generating initiatives were already being developed.
The plaintiffs contend that those representations did not materialise. They allege that Gomez did not fulfil the role she had purportedly agreed to undertake, the claimed corporate partnerships did not exist and Wondermind's planned app was never developed. The investors further allege that the company deteriorated over several years while its founders and directors failed to disclose the extent of its financial and operational problems.
The investors say they became aware of the company's alleged internal turmoil only after The Cut published an investigative report in September 2025 describing serious problems at Wondermind.
