Kathmandu, September 8, 2026 — Internet service provider WorldLink Communications Limited has contributed Rs 10.1 million to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Rescue Fund to support relief, rescue and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by floods and landslides.
WorldLink Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Keshav Nepal handed over the amount to Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle during a meeting on Monday. The company said the contribution was made to support relief, rescue and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the recent disasters.
WorldLink said its network and infrastructure were also damaged by the recent floods. According to its preliminary assessment, the company’s own infrastructure suffered damage estimated at around Rs 35 million.
Despite the damage, WorldLink said it restored its network and resumed services in affected areas within three days of the flooding, aiming to prevent prolonged disruption of internet connectivity. The company said its technical teams were deployed for network repairs and restoration despite damage to roads, electricity infrastructure and other facilities.
According to WorldLink, maintaining internet connectivity during disasters is important for information sharing, coordination of rescue and relief operations, and emergency communication. The company said it therefore prioritised restoring and maintaining services in affected areas.
