Kathmandu, September 5, 2026 — The United States Embassy in Nepal has issued a new travel advisory placing Nepal at Level 2, urging US citizens to exercise increased caution because of risks posed by natural hazards.
The embassy has specifically designated the Rasuwagadhi–Timure–Syabrubesi area of Rasuwa and the Nepal–China border transit point as Level 4 areas, advising US citizens not to travel there.
The advisory, issued on September 4, said transportation and communication services in the affected areas remain severely disrupted following the major floods and landslides of August 26.
According to the embassy, continuing search, rescue and rehabilitation operations, along with the possibility of further landslides and severe flooding, continue to pose risks in the disaster-affected region.
US citizens have been advised to avoid areas near the Bhote Koshi, Trishuli and Narayani rivers, as well as riverbanks, low-lying areas, damaged bridges and unstable slopes.
