New York, USA, September 23, 2026 — The United States has announced an additional USD 31 million in assistance for flood relief, recovery and reconstruction efforts in Nepal following recent devastating floods.
US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison Hooker announced the new assistance in New York during a meeting with Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal.
Hooker offered condolences for those who lost their lives in the floods and expressed sympathy over nearly 70 American citizens in the affected areas who remain unaccounted for.
The assistance package includes USD 10 million for American-made permanent bridging infrastructure to help rebuild transportation networks, USD 8 million for emergency humanitarian needs including water, shelter, protection and winterization, and USD 13 million for US-built drones to strengthen future disaster management operations.
