New York, USA, September 23, 2026 — Nepal and Grenada have formally established diplomatic relations through a joint communiqué signed by Nepal’s Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal and Grenada’s Finance Minister Dennis Cornwall.
The agreement was signed at a brief ceremony held at Nepal’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York on the occasion of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Before the signing ceremony, Khanal and Cornwall discussed various matters of mutual interest. They emphasized the importance of cooperation to accelerate progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and to address the impacts of climate change.
The two ministers also discussed the potential for exchanging experiences and best practices in tourism, education and other areas of mutual interest.
With the establishment of diplomatic relations with Grenada, Nepal has now established diplomatic relations with 186 countries.
