Kathmandu, September 22, 2026 — Prime Minister Balendra Shah is scheduled to depart for the United States on Tuesday afternoon to participate in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Prime Minister Shah will lead a 14-member Nepali delegation to the General Assembly.
A delegation led by Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal has already departed for New York on Sunday to attend the General Assembly.
Shah is expected to raise Nepal’s key priorities before the international community, with particular emphasis on the country’s escalating climate crisis, climate justice for affected nations, technology transfer, simplified access to climate finance and international support for reconstruction.
Through the General Assembly, the government aims to present Nepal’s climate and development concerns on the global platform.
