Kathmandu, September 7, 2026 — Relatives of people who went missing after being swept away by the flood at the Trishuli-3B Hydropower Project took to the streets in Kathmandu on Monday, demanding that authorities intensify search and rescue efforts.
The families gathered at Maitighar Mandala carrying photographs of their missing loved ones and placards calling on the government to step up the operation to locate them.
Nearly two weeks after the disaster, the families said they were still waiting for clear information about the whereabouts of their relatives and the progress of the search operation.
They said the lack of concrete information had deepened their distress and uncertainty as the days passed without news about their loved ones.
The relatives urged the government and concerned authorities to make the search operation more effective and provide regular and timely updates about the efforts being made to locate those still missing.
