New Delhi, India, August 26, 2026 — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences to Prime Minister Balendra Shah over the loss of lives caused by the devastating floods in Nepal’s Bhotekoshi River region and assured India’s full support for ongoing rescue and relief efforts.
Modi said he spoke with Shah and conveyed his condolences following the deaths caused by the floods. He also expressed solidarity with the people of Nepal during the crisis.
Modi said India was prepared to provide humanitarian assistance and that Indian teams were coordinating with Nepali authorities on rescue and relief operations.
The Bhotekoshi floods have caused extensive damage in affected areas, with at least 17 people confirmed dead and hundreds of others reported missing. Search, rescue and relief operations are continuing across the affected districts.
Emergency and disaster-response teams are coordinating logistics and relief efforts to accelerate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to communities affected by the disaster.
