Kathmandu, August 26, 2026 — The trailer of upcoming Nepali film Pension Patta has introduced a family drama in which an old pension document leads a man toward a forgotten relationship and a part of his family's history that had remained buried for years.
Written and directed by Maotse Gurung and starring Dayahang Rai in the lead, the film uses the world of the Lahure, or British Gurkha pensioner, community as the backdrop for a story about family, separation, love and sacrifice.
The trailer was unveiled on Tuesday at Big Movies in City Center, Kathmandu. It begins with a discovery in the pension records of a deceased father. The document contains the name of his first wife rather than the woman known by his family as his mother.
The unexpected detail prompts Dayahang Rai's character to search for the woman. What begins as an attempt to understand a pension-related matter gradually becomes a personal investigation into the family's past.
The search brings questions about relationships, identity, separation and decisions made by an earlier generation to the forefront. The trailer suggests that the pension document is only the starting point of a larger story about people whose lives were shaped by choices and circumstances that were never fully addressed.
