Kathmandu, August 18, 2026 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell 19.34 points to close at 2,622.48 points on Tuesday, ending the trading session in the red despite fluctuations throughout the day.
The market moved unevenly from the opening, with the NEPSE briefly attempting to approach the 2,650-point level during trading. However, the index failed to sustain the upward movement and settled at 2,622.48 points by the close.
A total of 15.1 million shares of 347 companies changed hands through 55,246 transactions. The total turnover reached Rs 5.073 billion.
The market decline resulted in losses for most investors, with the share prices of 218 companies falling. Only 56 companies recorded gains, while five companies saw no change in their share prices.
Among the sectoral indices, all groups except Trading declined. The Manufacturing and Processing group posted the steepest fall, dropping 1.40 percent, while the other declining sectors recorded changes of less than one percent.
