Kathmandu, September 2, 2026 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose 15.44 points to close at 2,538 points on Wednesday, extending its gains for a second consecutive trading session following the recent Rasuwa floods.
The index had increased by 9.24 points on Tuesday. Wednesday’s rise marked the first double-digit gain in the NEPSE index in about a month. The last such increase was recorded on July 31, when the index gained 12.96 points.
Trading activity also increased slightly. Total turnover reached Rs 2.94 billion on Wednesday, up from Rs 2.89 billion on Tuesday.
Share prices of 193 companies increased, while 75 declined and 10 remained unchanged.
At the sectoral level, the Non-Life Insurance and Mutual Fund indices were the only two to decline, falling 7.28 points and 0.01 points, respectively. The remaining 11 sectoral indices posted gains, although none increased by more than one percent.
