NEPSE falls 15.43 points after four-day winning streak

Kathmandu, September 9, 2026 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell 15.43 points on Wednesday, ending a four-day winning streak as all sectoral indices closed lower. The benchmark index settled at 2,545.40 points.

The market had advanced for four consecutive trading sessions before Wednesday’s decline, which pushed the index down by double digits. Daily turnover increased to Rs 4.19 billion from Rs 3.83 billion on the previous trading day.

Of the companies traded, share prices of 74 companies increased, while 192 declined and 11 remained unchanged.

The Development Bank sector recorded the steepest decline among the sectoral indices, falling 2.37 percent. All sectoral groups ended the session in negative territory.

Among individual companies, Upper Lohorekhola Hydropower recorded the highest gain, with its share price rising 15 percent. Shubham Power gained 6.40 percent, while Barahi Hydropower and Ingwa Hydropower increased 5.79 percent and 3.66 percent, respectively.

Emerging Nepal, Sindhu Bikas Bank and Janaki Finance recorded the largest declines, each falling 15 percent.

The companies recording the highest transaction volumes included Reliance Spinning Mills, Central Finance, NRN Infrastructure and Development, Solu Hydropower, Shivam Cement, Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower and Emerging Nepal.
