Kathmandu, September 11, 2026 — Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a telephone conversation with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on Friday, discussing Nepal’s ongoing response to the devastating Bhote Koshi floods in Rasuwa.
During the conversation, Shah briefed Luxon on the search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts being carried out in the flood-affected areas.
According to Shah’s secretariat, the prime minister said the government has prioritized locating missing foreign nationals, including five New Zealand citizens.
Shah also thanked the New Zealand government for providing NZ$2 million in humanitarian assistance following the disaster.
Highlighting Nepal’s vulnerability to climate-induced disasters, Shah requested constructive support from New Zealand in international forums for efforts to secure financial assistance for loss and damage.
