Kathmandu, September 8, 2026 — Ujyaalo Nepal Party Chairman Kulman Ghising has said the current government has failed to deliver the changes expected from the Gen-Z movement, despite commanding a near two-thirds majority.
In a statement issued on the first anniversary of the Gen-Z uprising, Ghising said the government had not achieved the momentum expected from an administration formed with a strong parliamentary mandate.
Paying tribute to those who lost their lives during the movement, Ghising also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured. He said the Gen-Z movement should not be understood simply as an effort to change the government, but as an expression of a generation’s demand for a better political culture, effective governance and the rule of law.
Ghising acknowledged that the government formed after the movement held the House of Representatives election on March 5, helping return the country’s politics to the democratic process. However, he said the fundamental issues raised by the movement remained unresolved.
“While there have been some positive efforts in the area of good governance, the original questions raised by the movement remain unchanged,” he said.
