Kathmandu, October 2, 2026 — The Kathmandu District Court has granted medical businessman Durga Prasai permission to remain in custody for one more day.
Judge Aneshwori Ghimire of the Kathmandu District Court granted the additional one-day remand on Friday, with an order to present Prasai before the court on Monday.
The court had previously allowed Prasai to be kept in custody for four days through two separate remand orders. It has ordered that the investigation report against Prasai be submitted on Monday.
The Cyber Bureau arrested Prasai on June 26 based on a complaint filed by Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Rachana Khatiwada. Police are investigating him for an alleged offense under the Electronic Transactions Act.
Prasai had made derogatory comments through YouTube, alleging that lawmaker Khatiwada had exchanged her parliamentary position for her son's dead body.
