Morang, September 20, 2026 — Political analyst Bharat Dahal was arrested from Belbari, Morang, on Sunday morning, according to Morang District Police Office.
Morang Superintendent of Police Kabita Katuwal said Dahal was arrested from Belbari based on a complaint filed with the Cyber Bureau.
There is no complaint against Dahal in Morang, according to police. Dahal had recently been speaking publicly against the government led by Balendra Shah.
Katuwal said the Cyber Bureau had obtained an arrest warrant from the Kathmandu District Court against Dahal and that he would be sent to Kathmandu on Sunday.
Dahal had travelled to Belbari to attend a programme. However, police said they had no information about the programme.
