Kapilvastu, September 13, 2026 — Armed Police Force (APF) personnel rescued 12 people who became trapped in the Banganga River following a sudden rise in water levels at Barmeli in Kapilvastu Municipality-6 on Saturday night.
A team from the APF Nepal No. 28 Battalion Headquarters, Kapilvastu, rescued 11 women and one man from the flooded river area and moved them to safety.
Superintendent of Armed Police Gopal Adhikari said the rescue team was dispatched immediately after receiving information that people had been stranded by the sudden flood.
According to Adhikari, the water level in the river rose rapidly, prompting the security personnel to carry out an immediate rescue operation.
The rescued individuals have been identified as Gopi Pariyar, 70; Kirali Pariyar, 70; Kabita Kumal, 24; Rami Wayambu, 38; Meena Wayambu, 32; Belmati Sunar, 45; Sushma GC, 45; Lalumaya Shrestha, 18; Laxmi Pariyar, 34; Bina BK, 40; Binda Thapa, 24; and Resham Pariyar, 37. All are residents of Kapilvastu Municipality-6.
