Bara, August 24, 2026 — A police constable has been arrested for allegedly recording and leaking a video of a teenage suspect being interrogated in connection with the rape and murder of three-year-old Garima Chaudhary in Bara.
The sensitive footage, reportedly recorded inside an interrogation room, was circulated widely on social media. Police subsequently arrested constable Kumar and took him into custody.
Bara District Police Office Superintendent of Police Narendra Kunwar said preparations were underway to initiate criminal proceedings against the arrested officer.
Police began an internal investigation after the video appeared publicly. The investigation indicated that the officer who recorded the footage may also have been responsible for releasing it, leading to his arrest.
Five other police personnel were reportedly present in the interrogation room when the video was recorded. Police said they are also being investigated to determine their roles in the incident.
