Kathmandu, August 14, 2026 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index declined 7.37 points to close at 2,643.83 points on Friday, the final trading session of the week, even as daily turnover increased significantly from the previous session.
The benchmark index had gained in each of the previous three trading sessions before Friday’s decline. On Thursday, NEPSE had advanced 8.81 points, following smaller gains on Wednesday and Tuesday.
The Sensitive Index, which tracks large companies, increased 0.13 points to 464.73 points. The Float Index declined, while the Sensitive Float Index also fell during the session.
Market activity strengthened despite the fall in the benchmark. A total of 9,754,403 shares of 344 companies were traded through 43,060 transactions, generating a turnover of Rs 4.275 billion. The previous trading day had recorded turnover of Rs 3.724 billion, meaning Friday’s figure was more than Rs 550 million higher.
Share prices of 101 companies advanced, while 164 declined and 12 remained unchanged. Among the 13 sectoral sub-indices, four ended higher and nine lower. Life Insurance, Microfinance, Mutual Fund and Other groups registered gains, while the remaining sectors declined.
