Bihar, India, October 3, 2026 — Three people were killed and three others seriously injured after coming into contact with an exposed electric wire laid across a paddy field in Bairgania block of Bihar’s Sitamarhi district, bordering Gaur in Nepal’s Rautahat district.
The incident occurred Saturday morning in Takiya Tole of Akhta Pashchimi Chakwa Panchayat–5 under Bairgania block. The three local residents died at the scene, while the three injured people are receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Two wild boars were also found dead at the scene.
According to preliminary information, the exposed electric wire may have been laid across the field to protect crops from wild animals.
The incident reportedly occurred after people went toward the field to search for a buffalo without knowing about the live wire.
