Kathmandu, October 9, 2026 — The government is set to provide Rs 1.5 billion in grant assistance to sugarcane farmers, following the approval of procedures for distributing the support.
Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary approved the procedures on Thursday to provide the grant as an incentive to sugarcane-producing farmers, according to the minister’s personal secretariat.
The ministry said the grant will be distributed to farmers in Bardiya, Rautahat, Kailali and Kanchanpur.
The government has been providing sugarcane farmers with an annual grant of Rs 70 per quintal.
