Syangja, September 15, 2026 — A 53-year-old woman who went missing after being swept away while bathing in the Aandhikhola River in Waling, Syangja, has been found dead.
Maya Pandey of Bhumre in Waling Municipality-9 was swept away by the river while bathing at a local stretch of the Aandhikhola on Tuesday morning.
Police and armed police personnel launched a search operation soon after receiving information about the incident. A joint team from the Area Police Office, Waling, and the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 30 Gulm Headquarter in Waling was mobilized for the search.
Pandey’s body was found about four kilometres downstream from the spot where she went missing. The body was discovered lodged against rocks in the Aandhikhola at Shantighat in Waling Municipality-13, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramesh Dutta Awasthi, information officer at the District Police Office, Syangja.
Security personnel recovered the body and initiated the necessary investigation procedures, police said.
