Kathmandu, November 4, 2026 — The government has appointed Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Manoj Kumar KC as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
A Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday decided to appoint KC to lead Nepal Police, government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel said.
Pokharel clarified that the appointment should not be interpreted as disciplinary action against KC, describing it instead as a change in responsibilities.
“He should not be viewed as having been punished. It is merely a change in responsibilities. He has been appointed security advisor. Now that a new IGP has taken charge, he will carry out the necessary work,” Pokharel said.
