Kathmandu, October 8, 2026 — The Kathmandu District Court has barred the sale and transfer of ownership of a helicopter owned by Mustang Helicopter Pvt Ltd, a company associated with mountaineer Nirmal Purja, popularly known as “Nims Dai,” in connection with an unpaid compensation award to the owners of a house destroyed in an explosion in Kapan.
Lawyers representing house owners Tanka Ghising and Dalmu Kittar Ghising said the court imposed the restriction after Elite Himalayan Adventure Pvt Ltd, a company associated with Purja, failed to pay compensation awarded for the destruction of the couple’s house.
The Ghising couple was awarded Rs 114 million in compensation by the Kathmandu District Court. The Patan High Court later upheld the decision. The couple is now pursuing enforcement of the judgment, while the company has challenged the decisions of the district and high courts at the Supreme Court.
The Office of the Company Registrar informed the Kathmandu District Court through a letter dated September 29 that the helicopter’s ownership had been restricted. Company records show that shares in Mustang Helicopter are held in the name of Nims Dai Ltd., London.
The helicopter had reportedly been put up for sale following Purja’s death. Purja died on August 1 after being caught in an avalanche while attempting to climb Broad Peak in Pakistan.
