Kathmandu, September 11, 2026 — The Kathmandu District Court has sentenced former lawmaker and businessman Ichchha Raj Tamang to five years and six months in prison in a case involving fraud at Civil Cooperative and organized crime.
A bench led by Judge Krit Bahadur Bohara handed down the sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on Tamang on Thursday.
The court also convicted 17 people in the case, including Tamang.
Those convicted are Prabin Prasad Pradhan, Keshalal Shrestha, Ram Krishna Poudel, Harihar Prasad Lamichhane, Danahira Tuladhar Kansakar, Sirjana Shakya Tamang, Lalkaji Gurung, Durga Prasad Sangraula, Jayendra Lal Shrestha, Khem Nath Dallakoti, Mukunda Prasad Neupane, Nagendra Bimali, Ram Raj Maskey, Hari Prasad Rishal and Mina Gurung.
The court has imposed different sentences and fines on the convicts based on the offences for which they were found guilty.
