A dispute over allegations that a school principal verbally abused a female student escalated into violence at a school in Sarlahi, where the principal, teachers and some of their relatives were reportedly attacked by students and outsiders. The incident took place Monday afternoon at Shriram Sakhi Mohit Singh Janata Higher Secondary School in Balra Municipality-4. The alleged assault of Principal Birendra Jha has prompted concern among local residents and calls for an impartial investigation into the events inside the school premises.

Traffic through the Gaddachauki border crossing in Kanchanpur has been disrupted since Tuesday morning after rising water levels in the Mahakali River led to restrictions on four-wheeled vehicles crossing into India. According to the Area Police Office in Gaddachauki, four-wheeled vehicles traveling between Nepal and India have been stopped from crossing the Sharada Barrage, also known as the Banbasa Bridge, due to the increased river flow. Senior Deputy Inspector of Police Jiban Gurung, chief of the Area Police Office, Gaddachauki, said the Mahakali River was flowing at around 112,000 cusecs.

The bodies of four people reported missing after the devastating Bhotekoshi floods have been recovered in India and handed over to Nepal Police. According to Madan Thapa, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office in Nawalparasi West, the bodies were recovered from a river in India’s Maharajganj district before being handed over to Nepali authorities on Sunday. The bodies have been taken to Prithvi Chandra Hospital in Parasi, where authorities are keeping them for identification.
