California, USA, September 21, 2026 — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has dismissed warnings that artificial intelligence could cause human extinction within the next decade, calling such predictions unsupported by science and saying there is a zero percent chance AI will end the world by 2030.
Huang made the comments in an interview with CBS News at Nvidia headquarters in Santa Clara, California, amid growing debate over the safety of increasingly capable AI systems. He said attempts to frighten people with predictions of an imminent AI catastrophe were unnecessary and irresponsible.
His remarks followed warnings from former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon, who said earlier this month that people developing AI genuinely believe the technology could kill everyone by the end of the decade. Coxon’s comments triggered renewed debate over AI safety and development.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman have been among technology leaders calling for greater caution over the pace of AI development. Huang, however, said AI development should continue as quickly as possible while companies ensure that products are safe before they are released.
Asked about Nvidia’s interest in AI safety, Huang said the company’s commercial success depends directly on the safe deployment of its products and services. He said Nvidia’s value would be diminished if it failed to ensure responsible use.
