Nepal take on Oman in ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 ODI series

Al Amerat, Oman, October 13, 2026 — Nepal will face Oman today in their second match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 ODI series in Oman.

The match will be played at Al Amerat Ground, Ministry Turf 1, and is scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. Nepal time.

Nepal defeated Canada in their opening match on Sunday, with batter Rohit Paudel scoring a century. Oman had also beaten Canada in a match played on Friday.

Oman's victory ended Nepal's chances of finishing in the top four of the League 2 standings. Nepal will now focus on preserving its One Day International (ODI) status.

Nepal have climbed to sixth place in the League 2 table with 26 points from 33 matches. Canada have dropped to seventh with 25 points from 34 matches, while Oman have 33 points from 29 matches.

With a top-four finish no longer possible, Nepal will have to compete in the playoff stage to pursue qualification for the ODI World Cup. Namibia, Canada and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will also participate in the playoffs.

Nepal can now finish the League 2 campaign in either fifth or sixth place. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has not yet issued clear provisions on how ODI status will be retained. There is an assessment that finishing as high as sixth place could provide Nepal with a safe outcome.
