Gorkha, October 11, 2026 — Ten people have gone missing after a flood in the Budhigandaki River early Sunday swept away six bridges and damaged several settlements in Gorkha district.
Netra Prasad Sharma, assistant chief district officer of Gorkha, said the flood swept away two motorable bridges and four suspension bridges.
The motorable bridges at Arughat, Tripurasundari and Soti-Manbu were among the structures reported swept away. A Bailey bridge connecting wards 1 and 3 of Dharche Rural Municipality was also destroyed by the flood.
The flood also swept away footbridges connecting Machhikhola with Karauja, Thadobharyang with Jagat, and Ghattekhola with Philim.
Nearly 35 houses in Painyu and Bagar of Chumnubri Rural Municipality-3 were washed away. Settlements in Jagat, Salleri, Dovan and Ghattekhola also sustained damage.
