Gorkha, October 11, 2026 — Floodwaters from Ungilung Khola have washed away two bridges and damaged Machhikhola Bazaar in Gorkha, while four people remain missing.
Floodwaters from Ungilung Khola, which flows through Ward 6 of Chumnubri Rural Municipality, entered the Budhigandaki River and swept away the Machhikhola bridge connecting Dharche Rural Municipality. The bridge linking Soti and Manbu in Arughat was also washed away.
Assistant Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma said the flooding had damaged Machhikhola Bazaar.
The flood also swept away four livestock sheds and 15 yaks kept along Ungilung Khola. Four people who were tending the animals remain unaccounted for.
