Kathmandu, September 10, 2026 — Deepak Kumar Sah has been recommended as the new Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, following the resignation of Gauri Kumari Yadav from the post.
Sah, who was elected from Sunsari-4, was selected by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for the cabinet position. Prime Minister Balendra Shah has forwarded his recommendation for appointment to President Ram Chandra Paudel.
Preparations are underway for Sah to take the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday. He is expected to assume the ministry previously led by Yadav.
Yadav submitted her resignation earlier on Thursday, leaving the Industry, Commerce and Supplies Ministry vacant.
Her tenure had come under criticism, particularly over the government's difficulties in maintaining adequate cooking gas supplies in the market. She had also faced scrutiny over controversial public remarks made while addressing issues surrounding the LPG supply situation.
