Bajura, August 24, 2026 — Nepal Telecom has extended its 4G mobile and internet services to the Badimalika area of Bajura, a major religious and tourism destination in the district, bringing telecommunications access to the high-altitude area from Monday.
The expansion is expected to benefit local residents, pilgrims, tourists and government and non-government organizations operating in the area, which previously lacked reliable communication services.
Information and Communications Minister Dr Bikram Timilsina inaugurated the service virtually, saying the government is committed to ensuring that people living in geographically remote areas are not deprived of basic communication services.
Timilsina thanked Nepal Telecom employees involved in the project, the Nepali Army for transporting equipment by helicopter and local representatives of the Badimalika area for their coordination and support.
The minister said the government has designated the current fiscal year as a period of significant transformation in the telecommunications sector, with a focus on expanding quality telephone and internet services to remote, rural and tourist destinations.
