Apple unveils iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max with A20 Pro chip and longer battery life

California, USA, September 10, 2026 — Apple has introduced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, bringing the company's latest A20 Pro chip, improved battery performance and faster charging to its high-end smartphone lineup.

Both models are powered by the A20 Pro chip, which Apple says delivers faster performance for demanding applications, gaming and artificial intelligence-related tasks.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max also offer the longest battery life ever seen on an iPhone, according to Apple. The larger Pro Max can provide up to 45 hours of video playback, while the smaller Pro offers up to 36 hours.

Apple has also upgraded wired charging. The company says the iPhone 18 Pro models can deliver up to six hours of video playback following a five-minute charge.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199, equivalent to approximately Rs 182,824, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299, or approximately Rs 198,072. Both models come with 256GB of storage in their base configurations.

Preorders will begin on September 12, with the phones scheduled to go on sale September 18.

The iPhone 18 Pro comes in new burgundy, black and glacier finishes, alongside silver. Apple has also added a next-generation vapor chamber to improve thermal management.

The external design remains largely unchanged from last year's iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple has instead concentrated on internal upgrades, including the new processor, improved battery performance, charging and thermal management.

Apple did not announce the standard iPhone 18 during the event. The company is changing its release schedule for the standard model and other lower-priced devices, which are expected to arrive during the spring.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max were among several products unveiled during the first major Apple event led by new Chief Executive Officer John Ternus, who assumed the position on September 1.
