Ilam, September 12, 2026 — Six people were injured after an auto-rickshaw travelling toward Hangmasuli from Mangalbare lost control and fell about two metres off a rural road in Fakfokthum Rural Municipality-6, Ilam.
The accident occurred along the Pokhari Kamre inner rural road section at Hangmasuli. Shortly after the auto-rickshaw fell from the road, petrol reportedly leaked from the vehicle and it caught fire.
The injured include 35-year-old auto-rickshaw driver Lok Bahadur Shrestha of Pokhari Bazar in Fakfokthum-6, 27-year-old Kabita Shrestha of Tilkeni, Ilam Municipality-7, and her eight-year-old daughter Khusika Shrestha. All three sustained serious injuries.
Kabita, whose maternal home is in Hangmasuli, Fakfokthum-6, was travelling back to her family home when the accident occurred.
Two other passengers, 22-year-old Durgadevi Shrestha of Mangalbare in Deumai Municipality-4 and 40-year-old Rama Kumari Shrestha of Maidhar in Kankai Municipality, Jhapa, sustained minor injuries.
