Kathmandu, September 18, 2026 — Police have arrested Rameshwar Parajuli, a suspect facing nearly a dozen cases related to fraud and banking offences, after he allegedly fled from the custody of the Mahottari District Police Office.
Parajuli, 38, of Pokhara Metropolitan City-5, Kaski, was arrested from the Dhobikhola bridge area in Bijuli Bazar, Kathmandu, according to Inspector Bishwambhar Nath Sah, information officer at the Mahottari District Police Office.
A joint team from the Mahottari District Police Office and the Crime Investigation Division arrested him, Sah said.
Parajuli had been released on bail of Rs 15,000 in each of the two cases registered in Mahottari after an order by the Mahottari District Court on September 7.
Following his disappearance, allegations emerged that personnel at the Mahottari police office had helped him escape. The allegations were made public by Onlinekhabar, after which Mahottari police and the Crime Investigation Division intensified the search for him.
