Taylor Swift announces new song ‘Patient Zero,’ first since wedding

New York, USA, September 23, 2026 — Taylor Swift has announced a new single, ‘Patient Zero,’ her first new song since she married Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce this summer.

Swift announced the song on Tuesday, saying it will be released on September 25. She also made the track available for pre-order for 24 hours through her website.

The announcement followed a cryptic countdown on Swift’s website. The singer had also changed her Instagram bio to read, “And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u,” replacing the letter “o” with zeros. Fans quickly interpreted the changes as clues to the new song’s title.

After the countdown ended, Swift’s website offered three limited-edition CD versions of ‘Patient Zero,’ including acoustic and piano versions. Each was listed at $3.99 during the limited pre-order period.

‘Patient Zero’ follows Swift’s contribution to the ‘Toy Story 5’ soundtrack earlier this year. Her most recent studio album, ‘The Life of a Showgirl,’ was released in 2025.

The new song is arriving shortly before Swift’s appearance at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards. She is set to receive the inaugural Artist Director Honors, a new award recognizing music artists whose work behind the camera has expanded music-video storytelling. Swift is also nominated for nine awards at this year’s ceremony.

Swift and Kelce married on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York. ‘Patient Zero’ is her first new song since the wedding.
