Kathmandu, August 22, 2026 — The price of gold in Nepal’s domestic market increased by Rs 15,100 per tola over the past week, driven by a sharp rise in international bullion prices.
According to data from the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (FENEGOSIDA), the price of fine gold rose from Rs 301,600 per tola at the end of the previous week to Rs 316,700 per tola by Friday.
International gold prices also strengthened during the week. According to Reuters, gold reached a three-month high as expectations surrounding a US Treasury buyback support plan put pressure on the US dollar, increasing demand for the precious metal.
Gold prices declined on only one of the six trading days during the week. The price fell Rs 4,700 on Wednesday, while it remained unchanged on Tuesday. The biggest daily increase came on Thursday, when gold became Rs 9,300 more expensive per tola.
Silver prices also recorded a substantial weekly increase. The price of silver rose Rs 325 per tola, from Rs 4,660 a week earlier to Rs 4,985 per tola on Friday.
