Bhat-Bhateni’s Tangal store to resume operations from Monday

Kathmandu, September 20, 2026 — Bhat-Bhateni Super Store’s outlet in Tangal, Kathmandu, is set to resume operations from Monday, September 21, providing regular daily services to customers.

Panu Paudel, chief operating officer of Bhat-Bhateni Super Market, said the Tangal outlet will provide regular services to customers from Monday.

Bhat-Bhateni Super Market Pvt. Ltd. Chairman and Managing Director Min Bahadur Gurung said the company had not neglected its business responsibilities or its responsibilities toward employees despite suffering heavy losses.

According to Gurung, more than 10,000 employees working for Bhat-Bhateni have not been separated from their jobs, and their roles have been continued at stores that have resumed operations.

In a statement, Gurung said the company had decided to rebuild and rise again despite the pain caused by the fires.

“There was pain in our hearts and tears in our eyes, and stores right before our eyes were burning. But we did not forget our responsibility toward the state or our employees. We remembered Bhat-Bhateni’s contributions during the earthquake, COVID-19 and other difficult times. And we reached one conclusion — we will rise again from the ashes,” Gurung said in the statement.

Gurung said the company began reconstruction work within a week of the fires, despite having to clear hot ash, hot metal and hot bricks.

He said the Koteshwor store, which had been completely destroyed by fire, was brought back into operation five months after the incident.

The company has gradually rebuilt the damaged buildings and has so far succeeded in reopening 10 of the 12 stores destroyed by fire, according to Gurung. He said the remaining two stores are in the final stages of reconstruction and are expected to resume operations soon.

Gurung said necessary structural work, equipment management and interior construction are continuing at the stores in Damak and Hetauda. The company aims to resume customer services at those outlets soon as well.
