Kyiv, Ukraine, October 3, 2026 — A Russian air attack struck Kyiv’s Northern Bridge over the Dnipro River on Saturday, the second major bridge in the Ukrainian capital to be hit in recent days, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Klitschko said emergency services were sent to the scene following the strike. The attack damaged the bridge’s road surface and overhead trolleybus cables, and traffic from the eastern bank toward the western bank was suspended. No casualties were reported from the bridge strike.
The Northern Bridge attack followed several Russian drone strikes on Kyiv’s Southern Bridge over the previous two days. Those attacks also disrupted traffic and temporarily affected movement across other bridges spanning the Dnipro.
The strikes have caused significant disruption to transportation in Kyiv, where the Dnipro separates the city’s eastern and western banks. More than one-third of Kyiv’s population lived on the eastern bank before Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, while most government institutions and businesses are located on the western bank, according to Reuters.
The full extent of the damage from Saturday’s strike was not immediately clear.
