New Delhi, India, October 14, 2026 — Nepal’s Home Minister Sudan Gurung held a bilateral meeting with Indian Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday, discussing security cooperation and technical barriers faced by Nepali businesses entering the Indian market.
According to Nepal’s Ministry of Home Affairs, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation on shared security concerns between the two countries.
During the meeting, Gurung also raised the difficulties Nepali industrialists and businesspeople face in accessing the Indian market because of technical hurdles, particularly those related to Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification.
The ministry said the Indian side responded positively to Nepal’s concerns regarding the certification-related challenges.
Gurung is in New Delhi to attend the first-ever BIMSTEC Home Ministers’ Meeting, organized under the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation.
