Surkhet, October 10, 2026 — Police have seized 18 locally made guns from three separate forest locations in Surkhet district, with the weapons found hidden in areas of two rural municipalities.
According to police, a team led by Inspector Bhupendra Shahi of the Area Police Office in Babiyachaur, with personnel from the subordinate Area Police Office in Gutus, recovered five guns during a search in the forest at Sanneghari, Ward 7 of Chaukune Rural Municipality.
In a separate operation, a police team deployed from the temporary police post in Lagam and other personnel recovered 12 guns from the forest at Dhamisen, Ward 1 of Chaukune Rural Municipality. Police said the weapons had also been concealed there.
Meanwhile, another team from the Ranighat Police Post recovered one gun from the forest at Jamire, Ward 1 of Barahatal Rural Municipality.
The three recoveries brought the total number of seized guns to 18. Dhamisen accounted for the largest number, with 12 guns, followed by five from Sanneghari and one from Jamire.
