Kathmandu, September 11, 2026 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index recovered 27.94 points on Friday to close at 2,559.49, as investors responded positively to the government’s plan to introduce measures aimed at improving the stock market.
The benchmark index had declined for two consecutive sessions before staging a recovery on Friday. The rebound came after Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle announced that the government would introduce a 10- to 12-point plan to reform and strengthen the stock market next week.
Wagle has also asked the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) to prepare a legal reform plan for the capital market. The request is based on 10 recommendations previously submitted by SEBON Chairman Dr Gopal Bhatt.
Investor sentiment strengthened across the market, with all traded sub-indices ending the session higher. The Hydropower sub-index recorded the biggest gain, rising 1.83 percent. Hydropower stocks had been under pressure following the Bhotekoshi flood on Bhadra 10.
Share prices of 237 companies advanced during Friday’s session. Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha recorded the highest gain, with its share price increasing by 10.53 percent.
