Jumla, October 4, 2026 — Business closures in Jumla have been increasing in recent years, while the number of new industry registrations has continued to decline, according to the Industry and Consumer Interest Protection Office.
Tank Prasad Neupane, chief of the office, said 180 industries were closed in fiscal year 2025/26 (2082/83 BS). During the same period, 188 new industries were registered and 334 renewed their registrations.
Under the commerce category, 61 businesses were registered during the fiscal year, while 58 renewed their registrations and 52 closed. Neupane said the office collected approximately Rs 1.625 million in revenue under various headings during the year.
By the end of Bhadra in the current fiscal year, 43 new industries had been registered and 119 had renewed their registrations. Five industries had closed during the same period. Another 11 businesses were registered under the commerce category.
The office said the district has experienced a sustained decline in new industry registrations alongside an increase in closures. According to the office, the trend has continued for the past four years, with new registrations decreasing and closures increasing each year.
