Dhankuta, September 20, 2026 — One person died and 10 others were injured when a passenger jeep crashed in Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality-3 of Dhankuta on Sunday.
The jeep, registration number Na 1 Ja 2494, was traveling from Kajimane toward Dhankuta when it crashed at Kajimane in Banchare after its brakes reportedly failed. The vehicle fell about 50 meters off the road.
Police identified the deceased as approximately 60-year-old Shokmaya Limbu of Chhathar Jorpati Rural Municipality-3. She died at the scene.
Following the accident, a police team led by Inspector Ram Prasad Khanal was deployed after the District Police Office, Dhankuta, received information about the incident. The team sent the injured to Dhankuta District Hospital for treatment.
Police said efforts were underway to recover the damaged Sumo and that an investigation into the accident was ongoing.
